I lost another one I cared about, another I loved. Why did this keep happening? Why did things keep getting in the way? Why did my perfect month end with this? How could I lose John, just, almost, like the last one I loved? There was no hope of seeing him again, even he knew that. I could just hope that he would live the rest of his life. Now losing other people, friends, that’s another great loss. When I left my room, knowing that John was probably at the gates of the school by then, I had hoped to come to find that I had not come to that loss.
